Circular Care

Developing a roadmap for the future of circular healthcare

Circular Care is a design research project that examined the barriers and opportunities for creating a more sustainable and circular healthcare delivery system. Through several case studies, specific strategies and visual information was developed to enable medical professionals to push healthcare into the circular economy and reduce medical waste generation in the United Kingdom (UK). An in-depth exploratory investigation of current operating theatre practices and estate medical waste generation was conducted alongside product and service design iterations. While complex this research is showcases the need for multi stakeholder communication and collaboration in shifting linear systems towards circular systems.

This research was showcased 2023 Royal College of Art Show at the Truman Brewery.
