Life Cycle of Wool Hat

Sustainable strategies and storytelling for a classic American outdoor hat company.

This project consists on a complete brand and life cycle analysis of a heritage brand and one of their more popular products, a wool hat. The research identified key strategies in production, design, materials, and service that could reduce the environmental impact of the existing product. The project was done independently and not sponsored by the brand, but numerous staff members were supportive and assisted in collecting accurate information.

Selected Project for Pratt Institute Spring Show

Each hat has on average 100 hands work on it from start to finish.

Creating a more sustainable product and driving a circular economy requires collaboration across a diverse stakeholder group and transparency throughout the supply chain. Much of the challenge in completing and trusting current life cycle analysis’s is the lack of transparent and accessible information as well as the system boundary being evaluated.
